Who runs this shop?

Truth or Consequences Contemporary, an artist-run gallery at 312 Main Ave in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, run by the artists Jeannie Ortiz and Kyle Parker Cunningham. The gallery's own site is torc.art. More on the About page.

Where did the shop come from?

The shop belongs to a gallery that has had several names. The gallery began in June 2012 when the painter Olin West invited Jeannie and Kyle into Mud Mountain Studio at 324 Broadway. The space became Seba, an artists' collective, then in December 2017 Desert Archaic, a studio, gallery and listening-concert hall. In January 2021, with the doors closed by the pandemic, the work carried on as Intentionally Confusing, funded by a worldwide circle of patrons, and this online shop ran under that name. In 2023 Jeannie and Kyle bought the Luchini Electric Building at 312 Main Ave, and in February 2024 opened it as Truth or Consequences Contemporary. The shop moved with it to shop.torc.art. The whole story, mostly in the words written at the time, is on the history page at torc.art.

Is the work original?

Yes. Paintings, prints, weavings, adornment and sculpture are made by hand by the artists named on each piece, and most are one of a kind. Prints are pulled by hand in small editions; drypoint plates wear out after a few dozen good impressions. Art clothing is the exception: it carries the artists' images and is printed to order by our print partner, Printful.

Where can I see more of an artist's work?

How much is shipping, and how fast?

Shipping is calculated at checkout from what you buy and where it is going. Original work ships from the gallery within 1 to 3 business days, usually the next day; printed clothing comes straight from Printful in about a week. In summer the artists are often away on Fieldwork, so write to us if you need something in a hurry. The full shipping policy has the details.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Import duties or taxes charged by the destination country are paid by the recipient.

Can I return something?

Yes, unused items within 30 days of delivery, with the buyer paying shipping both ways. Custom and commissioned pieces cannot be returned. See the refund policy.

Can I commission a piece?

Write to us and tell us what you have in mind. Custom pieces made this way appear in the shop under the name of the person they were made for.

Can I see the work in person?

Yes, at 312 Main Ave. Hours change with the season and the gallery keeps irregular hours in summer, so check the visit page or call before making a trip.
